Gallery Hopping

Openings and Events are coming like waves. There are days where is nothing and there are days with that much that I hardly can cover all invitations. Therefore you get today a bulk of recommendations:

Moya
Biographers usually have a lot of work, the work up of a person’s life. Not so with Moya. He has already prepared everything. His new show once again is funny and smart. Exhibitionism in Moya style and this time even literally.  You will see what I mean ;)

Nessuno Myo
7 of Nessuno's brilliant sculptures are placed in the beautiful  Lost Town. The link leads to the TP system, but I recommend a walk to expolore.

Maloe Vansant + Burk Bode
Another outstanding place to explore is Crimarizon. Every visit I discover new places. Dixmix Source does a great job as curator. I was again amazed by the interesting works in the gallery.

Dark Cartoon Style

Yesterday was a weird day in Second Life. For hours the logins has been closed and so I stuck in blogs and forums to see what went on. Suddenly appeared the news that logins via Mayflower work. I tried and yay...back to life ;)
So I was lucky enough to see this really well made place. I liked the dark comic style. It is called halloween Town. I think it is worth all year for a visit.

Artists versus Content Creators - Some Thoughts

"Content Creation" by Mikatsuki Matova
The Fantasy Faire has brought me to thinking. In Second Life is a not insignificant group of builders who do great work without fame and glamour. They have to. Because they have to follow the laws of the market in order to pay tier for their shops. No patrons, no sponsors, no LEA. Some of them even live from that work. And the customers are demanding. They want the best for their Linden. An example is the rapid succes of mesh in the fashion world. The Fantasy Fair shows the high quality nowadays with its great products and sim design.

Quite a few artists look pale compared to this. As I wrote in my article on Athena Bedrosian, when it comes to art of course content is as well important. But is that enough to justify a higher status? I experience the content creators in general as a cool, humble people.

Moreover, the shop owners do all to save prims, wherever it is possible without loosing quality. I calculated a bit. A prim cost me 128 Linden tier each year. Ok, I know there are cheaper parcels. But I allow me the luxury of a place in one of the beautiful sims.
"Content Creation" by Mayah Parx
This troll-tree on the photo has 6 prims, so it costs 768 Linden tier on my land. Artists generally do not worry about prims. Why should they? Many do not pay for the land of their work place and for the exhibitions. 250 prims for a single sculpture are rather the rule than the exception. To place such work on my land I pay 32 000 Linden a year. The artists who are surprised that their art is sold so little, should perhaps think about that.

All products in the photographs are purchased at the Fantasy Faire. They have 1 to 6 prims. Is that really just content creation?

Must See of the Week: Fantasy Faire

Only until April 29. is running the Fantasy Faire for Relay for Life '. It is simply incredible what has been built there on 8 sims. The builders are some of the finest in SL: Laufey Markstein (Trident), Alia Baroque (Fallen Gods Inc.), Marcus Inkpen (The Looking Glass), Elicio Ember (Cerridwens Cauldron), Kayle Matzerath (Garden of Dreams), Mayah Parx, Kazuhiro Aridian and Lauren Thibaud.  I hope I did not miss any name. The fair is of course very good attended, and so it was not easy to take some pictures in high solution quality. For your best expierience it is smart to take the free low lag avatars and wear them. Here's a selection of photos and I really hope they convince you to go there:

Typote Beck

Sad news: Typote Beck announced in his blog that he will no longer have time to work on his LEA sim and decided to pass it back.
I think it will take some days until the next artist is found and will will take the sim, so go fast and see what he did so far. I looks already great.
You find more photos in Typote's blog.

That Nice Can Be Emptiness

“The Loneliness of Being is a contemplative installation by artist Ian Pahute. The cloud comprises a thousand ever-changing words. Drawn live from the internet (including live news feeds and Twitter), the cloud is always evolving. It always reflects the 'now'. Some see nothing more than foggy letters. Others see words. Some see hidden meaning and insights.
 Come contemplate...“

Ian Pahute writes in his own words as I could not better describe the main installation on this sim. It has for me a very special radiance. Therefore I ask the photographer Firlefanz Roxley to help me out with photos. I am very happy with the results.
Another installation is called “Shadows” which I also find very touching. Apparently aimlessly are walking shadowy figures in circles. They are in action, but nothing changes, nothing changes. Everything on the sim has a relaxing, meditative effect.
Very interesting are also the pictures, taken with a special laser technology.

And if you  like the pictures of Firlefanz as well, then have a look at her first exhibition "Light and Shadow" in the  “malycia dreamworld gallery '.
