Sneak Preview: Mikati's Kuru Kuru World

As I wrote in previous posts, Mikati Slade implements serious themes in screaming bright colors. Kuru Kuru is the Japanese onomatopoeia for rotation. This refers to the cycle of life. Mikati shows this in the look of a computer game. I think that is very appropriate, because these games always have a warlike and destructive content.
But at the end there is a seed of hope and rebirth ...

Taxi:  Now replaced by this work.

A Very Special Winter Sim: Raven's Mist

I've always felt that art needs an appropriate frame to work properly. Some purists will now say that is not art but interior design. I don’t care!
Artwork by Moeuhane Sandalwood
But have a look for example at the beautiful work “Grassdance” by Moeuhane Sandalwood. First at the home sim Aeonia and then at Ravens Mist. What a huge difference! I really liked Slightly Twisted. Katz Jupiter has once again done a great job and integrates this time art into a wintry Sim. I loved to go around there. One part of the sim is not yet completed, but it is already definitely worth a visit. If you want to make a very special walk in the snow, come here and enjoy!
Artwork by Sharni Azalee
Artwork by Gleman Jun
Atwork by Asmita Duranjaya
Artwork by Kicca Igaly
Katz Jupiter at the infinished part of the sim, she is rl artist too

Katz really brings the art to life!

Nexuno's Dance of Life

In his note card on this installation Nexuno Thespian writes about the possibilities in Second Life, which can overcome the limits of reality and accept all contradictions. He shows it with his avatar and with the work.
I do not know whether there is a deeper meaning behind his newest work but I don’t care. It's just nice and relaxing sitting on the cushions and to enjoy the details.

Sneak Preview: Simotron's Nightmare

Ninel Hax and Carlo Seymour reopen their gallery with an installation of Simotron Aquila. It has the title "Mon Plus Beau Cauchemar", my most beautiful nightmare. We see two large rooms and in between flying boxes. In one room the wall is not yet ready painted. Ah ... moving house!

On the stairs are a many little rooms to see. By click the camera automatically zooms close to them (only worked with Firestorm). They show the things that you take into the hand and ask yourself whether they still have value and meaning for your life after the moving. Between the 2 rooms is sitting a house exhausted on a bench. Everyone knows these moments of exhaustion and emptiness while moving. In this respect moving house is indeed horrible: the work, the clearing But at the same time it is a cleaning process and a new beginning. The clean style of Simotron fits therefore especially good with the theme.

Sadly gone!

Rage + Insane

"Let me preamble by saying, YES this is a controversial piece, and NO I will make no apologies. This is an editorial piece and by no means does it apply to all ..."
The Sculpter vomits...
This is the beginning of the note cards which are belonging to the 4 new sculptures of Chuckmatrix Clip, displayed in Monroe Snook’s gallery. They provoke to think about quality of art in Second Life.  There is praised in SL too much and very little honest and constructive criticism. Chuck and I agreed that every artist needs criticism for its own growth. His 4 sculptures and note cards are as mean as funny. I laughed tears! And I found particularly funny, that on the screen of the fractal artist is displayed a work done by Chuck himself. And that hangs in my house! So please Chuck, add a sculpture of clueless art admirers!
The Fractal Artist (taken by Eupalinos Ugajin, who sits on it wearing his cool table avatar)
Of course, I have asked him how many committed suicides have been happened in front of these sculptures. Chuck said there wasn't any so far, but an artist has announced to abandon photography, sculpting AND fractal art immediately ;)

Together with Monroe’s works “Insane”the show is really worth a visit.

I would wish more provocation in Second Life!

Huge Labyrinth: Second Libations

Haveit Neox is obviously a passionate, not to say posessed Builder. He built a huge maze, which only can be fully enjoyed by walking through. So I just teaze you with photos and really hope that you will not miss it! The story is about our earth which happens to be completely dehydrated. Bots try to rescue the world with virtual water.
From the landing point which is a desert you have to walk through a computer screen and then a long and beautiful way down the Colossous to the virtual world. By click you get from vendors on the way clothes for your adventure and a folder with helpful maps of the places.
In the large Temple are 3 doors and you have to choose:

Banquet of the Artists
The Librarynth (cool word!)
Scripters’ Web Tower
Can you imagine that all this is at one place? It is incredible! As I have written in my post about immerson: You dive into a new world and become part of it.

ONLY OPEN UNTIL END OF DECEMBER!
Taxi: sadly gone

D'ailleurs grâce au Soleil, l'herbe est plus… @ Split Screen

In my blogpost about immersion I already wrote how much I respect the work of Eupalinos Ugajin. I already posted about his installation "One day my cow will come" at Two Fish. When he showed me his new work at Split Screen, it really has blown my mind away. The title means translated something like "Besides the sun, there is grass too". So we also see here a reference to the Wall Street movement. I decided to explain the work by some photos, although I think I have not yet discovered all. You land on a platform. Make sure that your viewer has autoplay media enabled and take the notecard with some helpful advises. You jump through the hole and land on the installation.
On the way round are some things to explore. Try everything but be careful and expect the unexpected. Passing though the gate you reach the next lower level.
Through the tunnel you reach the center where a bot is prisoned in his own home. Between the bot and me you see Eupalinos.
The Tunnel at the other side has some disturbing noises by passing though. Enjoy ;)  Here on the photo you see Maya Paris and me. I am wearing the gift from the matress at the side of the bots house.
On top of the installation is a boat, surrounded by floating boxes. When you ride the boxes a script will raise the ground to mountains. To flatten them, you have to sit on the chair and help the "Ministy of Grass Regulation" and the stamp will flatten the ground.

This represents the current state of the eart with space debris. Eupa gave me a link about that topic.
But as we see, the inhabitants of SL like to have it neat and orderly and of course their own plot of land.
I found this board absolute hilarious! It is done by Josh Susanto. And found myself in the prison of a home and our consumers world :)

Here is a machinima about the installation: http://vimeo.com/34323559

As far as I know Eupalinos, he will not stop to add things. We can expect more fun. Enjoy!

LET THESE FACTS BE KNOWN @ Split Screen

THIS WORK IS IN MESH. Please make sure to use a mesh enabled viewer.
With only 2 prim mesh (counted differently from LL) Artée built an entire city. The alpha bug has a great effect here. I lost the orientation and felt alone by walking through it. In the center, we hear a demonstration and see one person (a copy of Artée’s avatar) with a white board. Yesterday, when I was there to take pictures, I met her by chance there and asked her:
Quan Lavender: Just one question: Is that work meant to be a tribute to the wall street movement?
Artée (artistide despres): yes, I want the people to ask themselves a few questions
Artée: why is the protest board white
Artée: why is she alone
Artée: why is the mob really present
Artée: the text, which i borrowed from OWS is interesting itself
Artée: the city and its symbol
Quan Lavender: you mean here on the ground?
Artée: yes
Quan Lavender: yes, it is
Quan Lavender: although they stay as fragments
Artée: you can download the original (huge file)
Quan Lavender: do you have a link?
Artée: I give the address at the corner of the sim
Quan Lavender: oh ok
Artée: I look for you
Quan Lavender: I have overseen that so far
Artée: http://www.nycga.net/files/2011/11/DeclarationFlowchart_v2_large.jpg
Quan Lavender: I was so flashed by the walk through when you showed me first
Quan Lavender: oh that Chart looks impressive
Quan Lavender: that’s the mean thing with your and Eupalino’s work, you urge one to think ;)
Artée: there is a sentence by Lucien Hervé (photographer and friend of Le Corbusier) I like particularly: 'Il vaut mieux suggerer que documenter"
Artée: you can better suggest that document(ate) to figure a continuing
As  written in my previous post, I highly recommend to visit this place.
