For the series Virtual Americana she visited American themed sims.

Sneak preview: Two Openings Tomorrow
Art India Gallery (curated by me *cough*) is happy to announce the opening of a third exhibition:
FRIDAY 31. @ 12-2 PM SLT:
GABRIELLE SWINDLEHURST -Virtual Americana
About the artist: Having studied literature and journalism, Gabrielle spent her early years on SL avidly roleplaying and admining on combat sims. When her urge to kick things faltered, she started posting the pictures she was taking on flickr. Encouraged by her contacts, she really started enjoying photographing, building and texturing. She has been involved in a few decorating projects as well as some exhibitions. She likes working on SL because they make it easy to control what she wants to show. When in RL can you move a wall to improve a composition? She likes the editing process. Starting from an imperfect image and improving it to her liking.
Her "Virtual Americana" exhibition is based on images taken on sims representing SL's largest population.

FRIDAY 31. @ 2 PM SLT:
Betty Tureaud: ARAL SEA
Colorful Dust |
Betty Tureaud about the Aral: Formerly one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 square kilometres (26,300 sq mi), the Aral Sea has been steadily shrinking since the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet irrigation projects. By 2007, it had declined to 10% of its original size.

Fantasy China goes Real Art
I like the Fantasy China Dynasty Land and the work of Alial Allen and Stone Ryba since I joined SL. Stone Ryba did much efforts on creating classic Chinese building components and clothes, which he sells in the store. Currently the sim is rebuild and the buildings changed from Tang to Ming Dynasty. How do I know? The roofs are green instead of yellow. As I pointed out in the discusssion with Bryn Oh, more than 1.000 years of art history is about defining the techniques. The motifs always has been the same. Luckily the ancient art is still alive in China but even better that there is contemporary art too nowadays.
Tang Lady |
The related website Gaudi Art is an online auction platform aims to serve original Chinese artists, that includes core business such as online artwork auctions and also offline artwork transactions and auction activities.
Some of these works are sold as well in the gallery in the Fantasy China sim. 1.000 Linden are a few changed in Western money but much more in RMB, the Chinese currency.

From Dark To Bright And Back
ArtEdLand again has 2 interesting new installations:
Nessuno Myoo proves again how strong a work with "just" prims can be. The installation is dark and spiced with black humour. In Nessunoo's words: "A strange coincidence - The ambiguous nature of a bullet's trip, fatal for some, providential for others... " Really a must see!
Very nice is the setting with La Baroque's beautiful works.

My outfit is the beautiful Gaudi mesh dress and Gulnaz jewelry set from Trill Zapatero's collections BoHo HoBo and Meena.
Taxi to BoHo HoBo and Meena: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Trillia/231/7/2001
I should not forget to mention as well Nessuno's installation at the great cube project: "The Sentinel - It's the wonderful story of a Machine from the past that we have lost the memory, and that at some point becomes only one thing with the ancient wonders kept around him. Epic of the infinite and silent waiting ..." It looks as if limitations never can stop him to create a meaningful and heart touching work. Being able to do this under strong limitataions reveals true mastership. Impressive as so much in the project.

Need Holidays? Las Islas!
You will not often read here about beaches and palms. It is too much cliche for me and I bores me to death in SL. But...the four sims of the Las Islas group are so well done, that it is a real joy to explore them.
It was a feeling like holiday on a Spanish island. Really worth a visit!

One Year Quan's Travelogues
One year ago I started to upload the first travelogues which I had previously on note cards. My goal was to hit 40.000 clicks but the summer hole let me missing it. But more than 39.000 is not bad either for the first year, I think.
For the jubilee day I have nothing special, but a nice place to explore: Thematic. The sim has much beautiful places as well for couples and even tastefull designed skyboxes to rent.

In Torley's Flickr stream I found photos of the small bakery.
It is really a paradise. I bought cheese cake and got a cherry pie at the lucky board.
